UNA-Germany, Baden-Württemberg Branch
The United Nations Association of Germany has its roots in Baden-Württemberg where its predecessor – the “Association for the Protection of Fundamental Rights” – had already been founded in 1949. Three years later, in 1952, the United Nations Association of Germany emerged from this group in Heidelberg. The Baden-Württemberg branch of the United Nations Association of Germany keeps the memory alive of this history and the protection of fundamental human rights has remained a core value of the DGVN’s Baden-Württemberg branch in all of its campaigns and events.

A main emphasis is on “Refugees, Migration and Unit-ed Nations”. In 2019, along with the State Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration in Baden-Württemberg and the State Agency for Civic Education, the DGVN branch has established the “Baden-Württemberg Forum for Migration and Integration”. It aims to build a state network of experts on migration and integration and to add increased accessibility to this topic through an extensive range of public debates and discussions on migration and integration issues.

Additional activities of the DGVN’s Baden-Württemberg branch is its series of “UNO-Forums” on relevant UN topics, regular study visits to UN institutions and programs to support the cooperation between UN groups at universities in Baden-Württemberg.
